How months are counted
A month is counted when the same day of the month comes round again. When that day does not exist, the last day of the month counts instead, so January 31 to February 28 is one full month. Whatever is left over is shown in days.

Average months
The “average months” figure divides the days by 30.436875, the average length of a month in the Gregorian calendar (365.2425 days ÷ 12). Use it for estimates; use the full months and days for anything that follows the calendar, such as contracts or ages.
