How the days are counted
The calculator counts the days after the start date, up to and including the end date. That is the same as subtracting one date from the other, so Monday to Friday of the same week is 4 days.
To count both the first and the last day, for example the days of an event that includes both dates, tick Count both dates. It adds one day.
Examples
| From | To | Days | Business days |
|---|---|---|---|
| January 1, 2026 | December 31, 2026 | 364 | 260 |
| January 1, 2027 | January 1, 2028 | 365 | 260 |
| February 1, 2028 | March 1, 2028 | 29 | 21 |
| November 2, 2026 | November 6, 2026 | 4 | 4 |
February 2028 has 29 days because 2028 is a leap year. Leap years are handled automatically.
Business days and weekends
Business days here are Monday to Friday. Public holidays are not removed, because they differ from country to country. To skip your own holidays or use a different weekend, such as Friday and Saturday, use the business days calculator.
Weeks and months
The result also shows the period in weeks and days and in calendar months and days. Months have 28 to 31 days, so a period in months depends on where it starts. For an answer in one unit only, use weeks between dates or months between dates.
